From 1994 to 1999

I grew up in the same house from the time of my birth until I was 19 years old, but the paranormal activity took place between '94 and '99.

I'm aware that some people don't believe in the paranormal and therefore probably think I'm crazy. That's fine. I am not out here trying to convince anyone of anything, I'm just relaying what happened to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In 1994, I spent summer with my cousin like I did every year. It was a "kid swap" situation for my mother and her sister- they both had 2 kids (a boy and a girl), and every summer they would swap one of the girls for one of the boys. So I would be sent to my girl cousin's (I'll call her Hannah) house all summer while my boy cousin would be sent to MY house to spend the season with my brother. (I hope that makes sense to you all)

Anyway, Hannah and I passed our time that year by reading about witchcraft and demonology, and making a Ouija board. Most teenagers will find their way to this stuff at some point, we were no different. We would use the homemade Ouija daily, always kind of assuming each other was the one moving the planchette.

Odd things began to happen at her house. Things moving on their own, weird whispery voices even though we were there alone a lot, tv and appliances switching on and off on their own, etc. We would squeal in fear and say prayers and tell whatever it was to "leave this house!", but to be honest I don't think we actually took it that seriously at the time. 14 year olds are dumb.

So at the end of that summer, I traveled back home to my house and my boy cousin went back to his house. To my surprise, the odd things that had been happening at Hannah's house started to happen at mine. And it wasn't just me who experienced it- my mother and brother did too.

We heard angry sounding voices throughout the house when we were the only ones home. We noticed random objects going missing and then popping up in odd unexpected places (like shoes found in the bath tub, and keys in the freezer). We found scrawly illegible "writing" carved into our headboards. Objects would move on their own [i]right in front of us[/i]. At one point we all heard my mother's voice saying awful things to my brother...even though we were in the same room and my mother was not even speaking. My mother had someone "tap" her shoulder several times when she was home alone. It even happened once while she was alone in the shower! Appliances and electronics went crazy often. And on one occasion, something THREW a lamp across the room and it almost smashed my brother in the head. We all experienced nightmares in that house during those years, and depression.

We wanted to call a priest to bless the house, but there was no nearby Catholic church in our town. So we settled for a Protestant minister. Needless to say, the activity continued. So we called a Wiccan priestess to cleanse the house. This was effective for about 3 months, then the activity started again. We gave up eventually and just grew accustomed to the activity and living with it.

I moved out at 19, and according to my mother, by the mid 2000s the activity had stopped. We never got any recordings or pics of any of the activity, but there is one odd photo that she took in her bedroom (formerly my bedroom) that we find a bit unsettling though. I will post it here.


She took the pic to show me the wall color because she had recently painted. But in the lower left hand corner there is a blurred shape that almost seems to have a face. We tried and tried to find a logical reason for what it could be or what could cause that effect in the photo, but could find none.
