I Love My Kids

Travelling through France and on a pit stop sleep over hotel I get to share a room with my 12 year old Son.

When we're alone together he talks and asks questions about things he wouldnt do so in a group.
So last nights questions were quiet deep and all about his future; It suddenly made me remember how I felt at his age. Bewilderment and apprehension about making it in life.

His questions;

Dad, how much will i need to earn to have my own place?

How much will i have to pay for a mortgage?

If I find a place and move in what happens if I want to move, can i do that?

Dad I worry that ill get paid and ill spend my money in the first two days and then not be able to pay the mortgage or rent.

Whats the best job that pays the most money so I can afford somewhere?

Dad, I know being a Doctor or a vet is paid well but im worried that if I do surgery ill make a mistake and its really heavy if youve got someones life in your hands.

Bless him. I love my kids.

It is lovely and very important that he feels comfortable enough to ask these questions without fear of ridicule. I learnt at a very young age not to ask my father anything. On a positive note, this made me more determined that as my children grew up, they would have the freedom to ask or express their wishes and we would take through it together. If your relationship continues in this way then you will continue your journey in the way I did with mine and I can't express enough the comfort and pleasure that the closeness that my two have with us, brings to us.

@pennynoodles xxx PS, the cat on our farm is called "Noodles!"

AW, Penny Noodles was my cat's name. She is no longer with us but was rather special. It's not a black cat by chance is it? @Ironicman
@pennynoodles 🙂 👍
You encourage him to give it his best shot and leave the rest to God coz life and death is not in our hands....😊

My son says the same thing....He wants to be a good surgeon, which I know he can be. But he says he cannot have blood on his hands...What if he makes a mistake some day?? LMAO!!

Wow. That’s deep.

My 13yo son joined me for a hike (on vacation) and I too was surprised by his topics.

Enjoy these times.
👍 Bless him on my behalf as well.

At 12, I had a vague idea that I'd be running our house in next 4 years to let my Old Man get rest from his marathons. Thanks for the nostalgia.

Blimey! Something’s gone in from somewhere.! Has he perhaps overheard a convo about money from you and your wife? Hope he stops worrying about this stuff and enjoys his carefree days.! Have a great holiday x

Incredibly mature questions for a 12 year old, admirable in many ways, make sure he has some fun though!

@SW-User i know, my eldest boy so different. But youngest out in the hotel car park on his skateboard doing hops and stunts waiting for breakfast so still a kid.
