I Love Abandoned Places

How many abandoned/mostly abandoned places can you find on the one stretch of road, quite a few evidently

The Buchanan Society building, in use on the ground floor as a newsagent. Empty above that.

Former warehouse, now used on the ground floor as a shop

Former warehouse, now completely vacant after the last tenant moved out

Former tearoom, 2 stories to the front, rising to 4 stories to the rear. Empty above the ground floor.

Another former warehouse, guess that's what you get when your so close to the river, empty above the ground floor

Former leather store, now empty.

There really shouldn't be a lack of housing 🤔

@TheConstantGardener Not sure any developer would want to take them on as housing. Plus it seems like most will be demolished with maybe two of the warehouses retained as facades incorporated into new builds.

Buchanan Society one seems safe for now

@TheJagsman They've been left to deteriorate. If they had been converted early enough they could have been adapted into first-class flats 🤷🏻‍♂️

@TheConstantGardener Yeah, though I think part of is to do with the fact they all sit at the poor end of the city centre, which runs into the poorer east end. The area doesn't have much residential accommodation anyway.

@TheJagsman The poorer parts of many cities have been turned into the desirable parts through such development. You only have to look at most docklands as an example.

@TheConstantGardener I don't doubt it, but seemingly the east end of Glasgow is a very low priority for the city council. Other than Dalmarnock where the 2014 commonwealth games were hosted, spent no end of time cleaning that up for the cameras.

@TheJagsman Beautiful facades on some of those buildings. Pity that they're going to waste. 😕
