I heard the left claims 56 different genders . Conservatives believe there are only 2 genders and 54 mental disorders related to gender.

To me, there are only two genders. Male and female. That's my opinion though.
Gender is a social construct so yes. Sex is biological.
Carver · 31-35, F
No. If people want to identify as some third or quintillionth whatever gender, go crazy. But trying to argue that their identity is an actual gender is utter nonsense that will hopefully be done with and never spoken about again in just a few years.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Synyster believe that!!!😀

@Indy74 Can't argue with science. 😆

In my opinion, I would say only two. Male and Female.
AnarchoMetalchic · 36-40
Nope. Nature decides that, and there are two.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Our concept of gender varies by society and some societies have always had three or more genders. The vast majority of people fit into the standard two but every natural or social rule has exceptions. If some people are intersex, I don't see why non-binary gender is impossible.

The contexy we're in us a society where we're starting to listen to people who don't fit either gender but don't have a defined social role. So they're creating their own - hence the really long list of potential genders. People are defining their own identities which means it can be anything.
I believe there are three. Male, Female, and Hermaphrodite. All this "identity" crap is nothing but a way for people to facilitate being a 'victim'. All the little culture warrior progs want to be victims so they fabricate identities in the hopes that someone will offend them.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@puck61 hermaphrodite isn't a third but birth defect cannot reproduce.
@SteelHands I'll buy that. Two it is, then!
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@puck61 These young kids minds have been subverted by college professors that were brain damaged by dropping acid in the hippy days.

Someone should have warned them not to take them so seriously. Lol

Honestly, it doesn’t bother or impact me how others choose to identify themselves. It’s really none of my business. I don’t understand why so many people get so riled up over this if it doesn’t impact them, but for some reason, it seems to upset the herd.
TakingBackMidgard · 26-30, M
@SW-User I’m all for love and let live. I know some go overboard especially in Canada with bill C16 that can punish people if they identify someone with the wrong gender.

Here in the US it’s not like that but again who cares.

We shouldn’t be punished nor should we make a big deal

I’m pro choice across the board. I think people should be free to define and pursue their own happiness as long as they aren’t impeding someone else’s right to do the same. I just don’t see where this issue impedes anyone else’s ability to define and pursue their own happiness. @TakingBackMidgard
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
Apparently gender is a social construct? Whatever that means. So.....I don't know fam. I'm going with two.

Biologically speaking there are five sex categories, male, female, hermaphrodites, male pseudo-hermaphrodites, female pseudo-hermaphrodites.. Those three are called the intersex.

Genders are expressions, most times social, which is why often people feel outraged or uncomfortable seeing what they consider to be a male, expressing himself as the typical perception of a woman in his outfits or language gestures. It's not within the acceptable code.

They are socially assigned or acquired and they come with either personal expectations or social ones or both.

Yes, there are more than two genders.
SW-User
@Miram I bet most people don't even know the proper biological terms as you stated ._.
BlueVeins · 22-25
Honestly, it's a matter of definition. There are as many genders as you want there to be.

Intersex? @SW-User
SW-User
@TakingBackMidgard Something like that, the kind that's both.
No, you can identify as a fruit cocktail if you want but it doesn't alter biology.
No but there's some people born with the body parts of both genders..
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@SStarfish that's called a birth defect, no one has ever been born with both sets of functional reproductive organs...
There's a such thing as conjoined twins.. For all we know they are two people in one body
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SStarfish Not of different sexes.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
Every kind of mammal there is come in Male and female with physical and behavioral traits to go with them.

It takes an extreme amount of ignorance to overlook that just so you don't offend a pervert.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@SteelHands The problem lies with how the rest of us are supposed to identify them. They get "offended" if you refer to them as He, She, or It...

so what the hell are we supposed to call them? 🤔
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@wildbill83 Not really. If someone makes a convincing or earnest opposite sex presentation of course you just refer to them with the pronoun of the sex they appear as.

All that leaves are oddballs that want to fool around and act like sex isn't hard science. Here's the way to handle that.

If they look ambiguous refer to the person as immature. Since we also accidentally mistake the sex of babies and toddlers and that's what they're really doing. Refusing to grow up.

People who can't make up their mind. Imitating the opposite sex one day and presenting correctly the next. This is called transvestism. If you can't pass convincingly you're just revealing your mental disturbance. Demanding to be allowed to display it without getting strange looks or rejected is fairly ignorant on the part of those who think that parents ought to accept this as normal behavior.

Because even a healthy minded child can see the absurdity of it.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
yep, three... male, female, and morons... 🤔
Well for me I kind of put it into 3 camps..sex, gender, and gender expression. I believe sex and gender are pretty irrevocably linked, besides for some rare abnormalities..but gender expression is basically limitless and depending on the amount of different hormones you produce and the environment you're raised will determine how you express your gender in various ways, which is why you can have very feminine males and extremely masculine females. At the end of the day I don't believe you can really change your biology, regardless of surgery or hormone therapy, but the social constructs that determine how males and females should behave, dress, etc. certainly can change.
KidAzazel · 26-30
As its defined now, sex and gender are two separate things. One has to do with biology, the other has more to do with a mentality and personal identification with how masculine, feminine, both or neither one feels. So yes, there are more than two genders
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Just the two. There's intersex born people but it's incredibly rare.
What we choose to identify as, and what is are very different.
You have a right to say what you are, but it doesn't make it factually true.

Anonymouslyyours86 · 36-40, F
Yes what’s wrong with having two genders?
SW-User
Doesn't really matter what you think where your DNA is concerned...

As far As I know there are 3. Male. Female. And Asexual. (Asexual being organisms that don't need to have sex to reproduce.)
Gender is simply properties that distinguish organisms on the basis of their reproductive roles. In humans, there are two.

Gender identity is a totally different issue dont get them mixed up

@Emosaur
You're talking gender expression
No, I'm talking about gender. I think you're confusing it with "sex". The words are not synonymous. Your gender is more a matter of how you feel, "gender expression" is how you display those feelings.

@Emosaur
I literally said in my initial comment how I could see a difference between sex and gender.
Sorry, I overlooked that when I last replied.

I broadly agree a trans. person's brain is wired like the opposite sex although I would describe it as being where their gender (whether or not expressed and however defined) does not concur with their sex. I also agree there are only two genders (masculine and feminine) but I don't believe anyone is completely one or the other. We all lie somewhere along a continuum between those two extremes. Even the most macho masculine man will have some qualities that could be described as feminine, just as the most feminine woman will have some masculine qualities.

Determining a person's sex isn't always simple either. Chromosomal sex (XX/XY) does not always concur with gonadal sex. That could be relevant to gender dysphoria. For example, if a chromosomal male (XY) has female gonads and tends towards the masculine gender, is that person trans. or cis?
