What will you do if your colleague is way too damn lazy? 馃檮

Thevy2941-45, M
Keep quiet about and do my work. Besides I am usually too busy to notice what the other person is doing.
Embraer7036-40, F
@Thevy29 i wish it works that way. Mine was got no choice but to get pissed because we supposed to be working togethet like one hand hence all was done was sleeping and leaving everything to me.
Thevy2941-45, M
That sounds like every night shift I've ever worked 馃槬 @Embraer70

If this is work related and he/she is not doing their share you should report this to a supervisor. I would ask first if he/she might not know the directions that should be followed. Do they know the process of their job, or do they prefer just not doing anything? Perhaps he/she is doing the procedure incorrect. If so, the errors might fall upon YOU.

@Carla1951how I wish it works that way here.

We would be having a conversation...lol
Primnproper56-60, F
@Embraer70 then go above them.
Embraer7036-40, F
@Primnproper how about them being my senior??? 馃檮 how'd it work?
Primnproper56-60, F
@Embraer70 depends how much you value your job..you can have a meeting with them and voice your grievances, you can go to their boss and complain, but both could make your working environment uncomfortable for you..I'd be inclined to get on and do my work but not do extra time or put myself out above and beyond the basics.

Do my work while telling the boss why I'm pissed off at my lazy colleague
Embraer7036-40, F
@RemovedUsername632602 the thing is, we are adult. Why the hell would someone get into work to piss someone else. Imagine sleeping infront of your customer! What the @#@#!

@Embraer70 I'll get the wooden spoon

I won't do their job. Management tolerates laziness so it's their problem.

Not much I can do. It's up to my boss to reprimand her.
Carla195170-79, F
@Honeylove And yet her errors may fall upon YOU. You need to 1st make sure your own work is accurate, then ask her where she feels 'Stuck.' And maybe show her what steps to take. Watch her for a while. Don't allow her to ask you anything till you spot what might be a problem.
I'm not asking you to reprimand her. Yet if you can watch her for a short while, you might be able to see where she is creating an error.
I worked many years for American Express. Steps had to be taken with the greatest care to process the bills.
NEVER allow her to interrupt you from a process you are working on at the time. One Step at a time. Some are slower in learning. Errors made can easily be detrimental to the Company.
Perhaps something as simple as changing your seating arrangements.
Don't give up on her. I know. I have been this girl you speak of. Accuracy is where she needs to focus on.

Fire them if they soon don't wise up.

Maybe the person is not aware that they are being lazy. Maybe they are having a subtle out-of-awareness moment and are truly not aware of their actions or inactions. What you are witnessing could be the early warning signs of something very insidious, like the early onset of vascular dementia.

But if the shit hits the fan and it is discovered after-the-fact that you knew about their behavior but said nothing and someone gets injured, it is YOUR professional integrity that will come into question, not the integrity of your lazy colleague. That permanent tattoo will follow you indefinitely.

If you choose to say nothing but tolerate and cover for the person instead, then make sure you always keep your mouth shut and play dumb when the chickens come home to roost. That is no time to play the hero and declare that you knew something was up all along. You must stick to your story and say that everything appeared normal at the time of the incident. You cannot use that incident to wave your own flag. Falling asleep in front of people is actually a mental illness, the exact name of which escapes me at the moment.
