Ever had a friendship of many years (10+) come to an end, & then look back and realize you aren't sure how the hell you were friends to begin with?

Yes, my last roommate. She was my best friend for 10 years, then it was like overnight we both looked at eachother and wondered how we had ever been so close. 🤔

@DearAmbellina2113 SAME.....well not a roommate, but a close friend of 10+ years. We did everything together....and then one day I was just like 'I not sure I even know you anymore'.

Unfortunately yes. 😔

You don't see the flags because you give them the benefit of the doubt because you're good friends. Then when the shit finally comes down they show their true colours and you go "WTF"?! 😫😮

@SW-User EXACTLY.....I was dumbfounded and honestly kinda embarrassed at how I had not been able to see the real person who was my 'so called' best friend.

And the amount of times you think to yourself "I wish I had have done this or said that" when things just didn't seem right.....but you let it go because you don't want to stir the waters.
Not really. I've lost longtime friendships. The experience leads me to see where I was with myself at the time they were in my life, and how my being different now has led to the friendship falling away.

Friendships constantly evolve in and out as they and I shift focus and position.

@PhoenixPhail It's good that you could recognize you might have had some involvement in the changes that took place. 🙂
For me, it was as though this person just wasn't the same as the one I had met 10 years prior. And I don't mean the typical 'we grow and we change' type of changes. I mean the I know longer know who you are b/c you don't resemble any part of the person I once knew type of changes.
@skmokisses
Oh yes. I experience that about other people, too.

oh hell yes

I had a friend who stopped being friends with me because I eat meat.

@skmokisses They're nutters, their father sees little blue men all the time that come to talk to him from another planet and the family all turned vegan now, I think they believe they can live forever if they don't eat meat.. LOL

Quite a crazy family tbh, I think she did me a favour actually
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@SW-User OH MY!! Sounds like she def did you a solid....LOL
SW-User
@skmokisses lol😂😂
Yes, although it had a turbulent start!
@skmokisses Yes but we had mutual friends.
We bonded in the middle of the friendship when one of our friends was mentally ill and we needed to tag team to keep her safe.
But there were always red flags - like when she sat on mt bf's lap on a night out...
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@LilPuckBunny Oooooh yeah, that's a huge red flag!!
memyselfandyou · 46-50, M
@skmokisses wow, agreed!
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
Yes. I'm pretty sure that they have had some kind of breakdown.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@TheConstantGardener Well I hope nothing serious!
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@skmokisses I don't think so but it's definitely affected personality.
Noblety · M
No, but that seems like a very intriguing story. Please tell.
I have, sadly enough. Some people come into your life at a point when what they have to offer is apparently what you think you need. 😒
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard I'm sorry hun! I feel ya!
Yeah, I've heard the saying "for a reason, season, or lifetime. I do think we attract what we are in need of or looking for. Just sucks to waste so much lifetime, only to realize they weren't who you thought at all!
