Is the police hiring process really that hard and stressing?

I just applied and curious if it is as "hardcore" as everyone says meaning that they'll dissect your life and only want perfect people.

The psychological portion is to ascertain if you are reasonable and responsible. Being in a position of authority, authorized to detain and do bodily harm, they want to be reasonably certain you can handle it
