Today is technically my last day working for the company I have worked at for the past 12 years.

I have been on holiday for the past month though, so I am not sure it counts in any other than a symbolic way

is it a layoff or a retirement or something else entirely? somehow a guy several layers up from me in current workplace had pretty much the whole summer off and is retiring in ... some dumbly short amount of time. I'm more than a little jealous, if I'm honest.
