What would be a good first job

well I don't think your school is gonna hire a 14 year old but the grocery store and small restaurant might be a good option if you approach and let them know you are eager
to learn while and will do you best if they have any openings and let them know you are
willing to do anything for chance at employment. That is if you are willing to bag groceries
or stock shelves at the store or if you are willing to do dishes or bus table or be a hostess (the girl who seats people at some restaurants). Dishes is not much fun in a restaurant but is often where they might have an opening. Are you sure you want to work at either though?
When visiting that grocery store to ever see cashiers with (in training) on their name tag but
you never see anyone around doing the actual training? like they are just expected to train themselves if so you might not want to work there afterall.

Like Rambler said, just try to find something and prove your worth (as they say). Which job(s) do you prefer?

My daughter who is 12 started a business and she is doing good only working a few hrs each saturday pm for more ideas

My daughter is doing face painting, small projects.Five dollars, larger, ten, she goes to the little pop up fairs on the weekend

Whatever works for you... Try whatever is available, get as much experience a you can,

dont get in a big rush, you will be working next 50-60 years

Whatever you can find, really. The main thing is to get started and show you're worth hiring .
