My work ethic seems to have decreased significantly over the years...

And I'm concerned. 🤔

Are you American? Because we are absolutely being exploited.
NIC0LE · F
@EldritchFox Yep I'm American
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
Me as soon as I get to work.

@mindstruggle Definitely relatable right before I retired…🤭

@mindstruggle pretty much! 😂
I think this may be a side affect of all the information available.

I’m retired now, but once upon a time we had some belief in company loyalty. Businesses encouraged it. They talked a lot about “family”. Most of us wouldn’t recognize our boss if we fell over him/her/them.

When you know you are “loyal” to a public relations firm, it dulls one’s enthusiasm, that your employer/employee connection only holds as long as you follow their concept of value ($) and loyalty (none from their side). I saw it happen to a lot of people through the years.

@Mamapolo2016 If the loyalty went both ways it would be a lot easier to care about working. The fact most places will drop you at the hint of shareholder displeasure without even considering what you've put in really kills that motivation.
@ViciDraco Yep. Sad.

Burn out? In all fairness, most places don't pay anywhere close to the value you provide them. I would say that morally you are probably fine. But most places also don't care about morals and might punish you for it, so I would say concern it's warranted there.

I get that to some degree. I don't feel I have something to prove anymore. I have no ambition to move up.
