Note to self: Never go to the office building where I work on the weekends with a memory recapture intention...

When I was in school, I used to like going to the library on weekends to study and work. It wasn't crowded, it was a change of scenery, there were large desks to spread everything out, there were books and enough people-watching opportunities for a quick distraction-break, and a section with comfortable chairs to sit when the table sitting became too much.

Flash forward to today, I thought why not go into the office for a little bit for the same kind of experience. I could get a head start on some new projects and get organized in advance for Monday without the hubbub of all the chatter, socializing, and other people encounters. So, I went in with high expectations and a little bit of nostalgia thinking it would be like the library-on-weekend days of my youth. It was horrible...

1. There was no A/C or any air circulation at all. I suppose they turn it off on weekends to save money.
2. There was only minimal overhead lighting.
3. Not surprisingly, there was no one there... EXCEPT, surprisingly... some person way over on the other end of the floor was singing loudly. I couldn't make out the words or tune, but it wasn't pleasant.

So, I left. I thought about going to the library, but I was afraid it wouldn't be the same from my university days, and I didn't want to risk shattering that feel-good memory.

In college I studied at Carl's Jr.. Why? Because I tutored at the college library. 😆

Yeah, even on weekends it would a bad idea. They paid me to tutor there. Not much, yet it was something.
