The only thing worse than working short handed is...

Training someone that just doesn't seem to be. Getting it. Asking the same questions repeatedly and 🚫 t following directions.

I would rather go back to being short handed.

@Pretzel can understand your point a little unfair to have to train somebody when numbers are down and short staffed it put pressure on . may take patience and the right help for your newbie he will come good and that is a feather in your cap as you have achieved this against bad working conditions and personal stress

Yeah the hope is always, to nail that perfect Day 1 employee, but unfortunately the scales tend to tip the other way in most cases.

@smiler2012 I genuinely believe that have either a learning disability or an issue with short term memory

my coworker and I have both told them many things several times and each time seems like the first time to them.

the job is very detailed oriented - it's been 30 days and by now people are pretty much self-sufficient and this one needs to be walked through the steps.

I'm going to get with my supervisor tomorrow - in another 30 days we may need to reevaluate their future.

@Pretzel yes it is good equal opportunities give people like these a chance in the workplace . but will disabilities they need more time and patience than other trainees , it is not fair to them or definitely you to be thrown in the deep end being expected to train them short staffed

@smiler2012 bear in mind that to my knowledge they are NOT learning disabled - I have no paperwork indicating that they have been evaulated or classified.

not everyone can do every job - in 30 days if there is not a noted improvement they will need to look elsewhere. the job is to mission critical. perhaps they can find a job elsewhere in the building. but I can't be expect to monitor their work for an extended period of time.
