Am I the asshole?

So I clean 3 houses weekly on top of my work from home night job…My Monday client has a tendency to cancel on me last minute taking away from that day of income Due to the fact they keep canceling last minute (I’m talking 5-10 minutes before I’m supposed to start cleaning) I have implemented a new policy that last minute cancellations will result in a 50% service fee

I told them to avoid a cancellation fee then I need at least 24 hour notice…They are of course mad about it but i wouldn’t have put this policy in place if they were respectful of my time and gave more notice but no they do this a lot

Nope... I mean, 24 hours may be a bit long for some genuine circumstances, but if it becomes a regular thing for basically not feeling like it in the moment, when you're already on your way, it's perfectly reasonably to put a price on it.

They expect you to have time reserved for them.
24 hours is not really even enough time to line up a other job

Id find another client if I could and ask them last minute if they could use a clean up
Yeah, I'm charging full price at 5-10 minutes before my shift starts - unless they have valid reasons for cancelling.
You doing it all wrong, I get paid if you cancel or do the work, it’s so much a week you owe me

@Nunlover 🤪
You have every right to add a cancellation fee.
Especially if its such short notice.

Completely reasonable.
You are running a business and you are right to do this.

Seems fair to me

Less than 24 hours should be paid in full.

@MommaBear Not harsh and you’ll only lose clients like that that mess you around.

@MommaBear I think 50% is good, it shows morale

You can always update it later if you grow larger but for now you need client trust
