How do you stop feeling like you need to work 8+hrs, 5 days a week? Are you allowed to want to just stop? At what price?

You are allowed to want to stop but to actually stop you must consider how to support yourself.
I got to the stage where I was sick of working 10 hours a day, 5 days a week rising at 4am every morning.
One day my new boss pissed me off one too many times.
I thought about the situation, realised I had enough savings to last quite a few years so I told him I was sick of his methods, - bullying and intimidation and I resign, effective immediately.
Best thing I ever done. No more having to rise at 4am.
I have retired 4 years early.

@Gusman Thanks for sharing. How old were you at the time if I may ask? The thing is I don't just support myself. So there's that. Other people depend on me for things. I am capable, but yeah, sometimes, I wish things are different. I feel tired, so so tired sometimes.

@Gusman Flicker of happiness. That, I understand very well. How hard we fight for that short silver of feeling.

@Casheyane Yes, acknowledge and run with those happy, fun times. It can make the day a little bit easier.

@Gusman I just want more, you know? Something more than a flicker.

@Casheyane The reality is that to get that, one has to take stock of where we are at.
Do we want to continue down the same path?
Are we able to extricate ourselves from the current situation?
If the answer is no then unfortunately we must keep moving forward with what we have.
You are not in position to drop everything and start again.
