When I was a teenager, my dad would play a game with me. He would put his open palms around my waist and touch his middle fingers together at my spine, while simultaneously squishing my belly button between the tips of his thumbs!

Well, taller than average but super thin from a lifetime of athletics, but my Dad is Dutch and has super-long fingers too! 🤣

That's me in my username photo where I was actually showing off my bikini-making skills to my mom who's a professional seamstress and she took the photo with her old iPhone 7 and sent it to me! She makes a better seamstress than photographer, I must say!

I suppose that's because I actually do live in the islands all winter long , but then return to Canada from May to October each year.

I try to look sophisticated when I'm in the islands, which means I usually wear store-bought bikinis and not my home-made ones! 🫣

@swirlie Sadly no. I used to sew when I was a kid but after my grandmother passed, I never sewed again.

I never had that sewing 'gene' in my DNA, despite my mom doing her best to teach me by example. She even had a little octagonal wooden pedestal my sisters and I would take turns standing on when she would measure us to make our clothes, even as teenagers... but I learned nothing. So the best I can muster up today is a bikini that I purchased the pattern for, then take all day to make it!

@swirlie How cool!! I wish I had stuck with it but I guess when I lost her, it left me broken. That's so cool your mom did that!!
