Hmmmm, I am working with a hiring manager and was suggested to reject an applicant because they are too senior

I'm in two minds about this. This person has clearly worked in higher positions and this would be a step down, but that's their choice. They bring the skills, maybe pretty soon they'll want a different position but we still benefit from that.

If he has the skills you need to hire them. Just because they are older is no reason not to. Sounds like your hiring manager is inexperienced and should be replaced.

@Tastyfrzz I think he means job experience not senior as in age.

He’s concerned the guy’s going a couple of minutes on the age and a “where do you want to be in 5 years” conversation may be warranted
