Work today!!!
As some of you know, im a teaching assistant and Im employed by an agency. The flexibility suits me, i can choose my availability and book holidays when I wish. At this point in my life, i dont want to be in one school long term, I'm happy to flit about doing a few days here and a few days there.
In recent months, due to cuts in school funding, theres not nearly as much supply work available as there was a year ago. Ive been lucky to be getting 1 day a week!! But thankfully, i don't rely on the wage, its just personal pocket money.
Anyway, today i got offered a days work at the one school i said I'd never go back to. I worked there for almost 3 years and walked out in the end because i couldnt take the stress anymore.
So today, i said i'd give it a go, as long as it wasn't a certain class ( the class i'd left.) I was a bit worried, a bit nervous as to how i'd feel returning....but...it was ok! I was with the little ones in reception (not my fave place to be) but the teacher (who i'd met before but not worked with) was lovely. The class was full of characters, but well behaved.
Almost as soon as i arrived i met the teacher whose class id walked out on.....and she was so lovely. Gave me a hug and welcomed me back.
Saw a lot of old friends as the day went on.
It turned into a good day.
Before i got home...my phone rang. They've booked me till next Tuesday! If you'd have told me at 7am this morning I'd be back there i'd have said not a chance!!
But....i took the chance.....so far, so good. X
