Job stolen from me last year

Torn from my grasp by weak, small-minded cowards who couldn’t handle a strong woman calling them out on their BULLSHIT. Everything I did, the hours, the ideas, the relentless dedication, you’re just going to cut me loose like that? Because I refused to kiss the asses of incompetent, dusty, power-hungry dinosaurs who wouldn’t know real leadership if it slapped them in the face. The Lithuanian Foundation is crumbling without me. Oh, I know it. I don’t even have to check. I was the only thing keeping that place afloat. Let’s be real, they needed me way more than I ever needed them. And now? Now, they’re probably scrambling, grasping at straws, desperately trying to fill the void I left behind. Spoiler alert: they CAN’T. The Lithuanian Foundation pretends to be about preserving culture, but what do they actually do? Fund the same tired, irrelevant projects? Prop up the same boring, lifeless, uninspired people who have NO understanding of modern Lithuania, let alone any ability to bring it into the future? I TRIED to push them forward. I TRIED to shake things up. And for that, I was punished.

I see what you’re saying. It also seems to be a relatively egocentric position. I don’t presume to know the cultures or values of the system you worked in, but the principles are the same. You should look up the premise of the ‘first follower’. That’s how you change a movement from the inside.

@Ahhhstevee Believe me, I’m not oblivious to it. It’s a cute idea, really. I mean, the whole “it’s not about the leader, but the first follower who validates the movement” thing. I get it. But here’s the reality: that model works when you’re dealing with a system that’s already worth following. I understand the value of building support and creating a ripple effect. I’m not completely against the idea of followers. But you also have to realize that there comes a point where the “first follower” becomes a crutch. At some point, you have to break away from following anyone and create something bigger than the existing system.

@Eglectic If you don’t mind me asking…has this or something similar happened to you before?

@Ahhhstevee It’s been like this for years. I’ve had doors slammed in my face, been written off, ignored, disrespected, all because I refuse to play by the rules.

@Eglectic so on the assumption that you can’t change the values in the places you have worked. What can you do, that’s within your control?

@Ahhhstevee I control my own destiny, my brand, my voice, my power. And guess what? I’m using it all. I'm not going to work for anyone but myself anymore.
