In the early sixties in Philadelphia we had over a dozen local uhf stations on TV and four national ones, including the three major networks on VHF. The rabbit ears came with the TV. Kids watched a live DJ between cartoons, giving news and weather and commentary just for kids. We chose Wee Willie Webber over the guy on channel 29.
The am radio featured over a dozen live call in local shows! And twenty or more music stations that took requests over the phone. This is utter darkness by comparison.
