Why do they call you 'boss'?

Every time I go through the drive through, or even at many check-outs they say 'Ok boss' or 'yes sir boss' or how can I help you - 'boss'? At the Dairy Queen it happens without fail. I'm not their 'boss' and the next time they say that I'm tempted to just say something like...

I accept that as an axiom as I've been told all my life I have a reporter's/journalist's/analyst's voice with that deep tone of finality. It's felt natural since forever. I'll just call you Ladyboss, madam 🐠

I see. Not as prosperous as property bros, but as a landlord I have had to evict someone on a 3-day pay or quit notice. Still owes me over a thousand bucks. Stole my favorite comforter on his way out.

@PatKirby oh terrible.. i used to work for a land owner.. she had to evict people once too.. occupying a building and not paying the rent is a form of stealing imo because they deprive the owners of their rightful income for the property which cost money to maintain and own.. sigh

What? Sounds worse than mine. He claimed he had a rich uncle who had numerous patents with the US Patent Office who would help since he was a devout Mormon with a reputation cleaner than a preacher's sheets. Yeah, rrrriiight. Occupying a building is much worse. Did she ever get paid?

@PatKirby ehh they stayed on for many months without paying before finally leaving it was a house but i heard of other people who leased building space and didn't pay either (she told me about them..)
