I'm exhausted...

I usually let this information slip in some of my posts or comments when talking about something else and never really complained about it but...

I'm exhausted.

Waking up everyday before sunrise (sometimes the insomnia makes me get up earlier, or sleep very late.)

Working every single day, sometimes staying 03 hours after time, sometimes until sunset...

Four to five 24h shift a month, sometimes it lasts till 30 or 36... including the weekend, so I'd go up to 02 and sometimes 03 (but rarely 04) weeks on a row without a single day off.

Let alone the work at home, the studying for the cases at home to pull off a fitting diagnosis and the entailed management strategies.

But sometimes... I wonder why I get myself tired this much... why do I allow myself to be exhausted this much.
I am not even in surgery or anything, what I do is purely medical reasoning. But I do have a lot of patients. Sometimes complicated cases.

Right now, I am sitting... waiting for a friend on bunch outside of the hospital... literally nodding off. I decided to write this while waiting, lest I let sleep claim me.

I hail from systems & workflow analysis and management and I interact with users while studying the system and offer computerised solution for both the process and management of it. During my experience I found many experts struggling in organizing their work and the department/ people they interface with. They would face difficulty in prioritising work as each work or task would involve have a dependency on another task to complete and hence pending. Many users complain that they are on the job but things keep piling up and while they attend to one thing, another task comes up delaying the workflow and there is always a manager or supervisor who does not appreciate work completed but is there to demand work be done at once.

So are you part of a workflow automated system or is it manual process.

If manual, then you have to spend time organising your work schedule, how to take up work, process and finish it and how to follow up.

Also there are best practices to follow when leaving office, so the work does not hooks on to the mind while leaving home, for it keeps nagging and worrying us like a child disturbing our evening.
