Fun fact: that thick black bar you sometimes see on the back of a chip bag is a quality check marker: it the chips are too far below it, the bag is pulled from production for under-filling or too many broken chips.

Mind you, after those bags leave the facility, they’re on their own…..

@AbbySvenz oh, i imagine most chip breakage happens after they leave the facility. Getting stocked at the store and the trip home are probably the biggest chip breakers. With a fair amount happening from people picking up the bags and moving them around at the store as well.

@ViciDraco thats why they dont fill the bags all the way. To protect the chips.
