Would you move to a city you're not excited about

But you are excited about the work you could be doing there? Seems like a double edged sword.

It is a good question. If you had asked me 15 years ago it would have been absolutely ! I would have looked at the local economy the areas GDP and that would have been a compelling move prompt

However I have a white collar job and I have been a mostly remote employee for about 10 years . At my current job I have only been to the office 1 time in 2 years and the job before that it was never. The job before that it was 20 ish times in 3 years.

I just need an internet connection that is fast--so no incentive to move.

But if I had a blue collar career track I would probably look at GDP of area and market saturation for that profession. For example electrician.

@robertsnj thank you for your response. I'm white collar as well, and work from home like you. However, I think my skill set is getting stale, and want to solve that with a job change. Everyone in my industry now wants most people back on site. I'm okay with that if in the end, I get a reinvigorated skill set

@Neman1622 it sounds like you have an in demand skillset . It is hard call. if you have a mortgage kids in school , you adult stuff that is a hard play. i don't have anything off the cuff--because i don't want to be flippant

@robertsnj right, there will be hard choices to make if the offer is made, and I think I'm on the short list. We'll see though
