Offhand I can only think of two professions where watches are prohibited: medics, and workers in foundries that use electric furnaces. The first for hygiene the second because of the strong magnetic fields.

@Thexboxoneguy1991 What do you mean?
michaela2001 · 70-79, M
@ninalanyon and food factories. Don't want bits of anything falling into the production lines. Yep, I worked in one as an engineer.

@michaela2001 Good point, should have thought of that!

This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would either one of you lose your job because you're wearing a watch?
Thexboxoneguy1991 · 31-35, M
@Rutterman we work in a factory though?
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@Thexboxoneguy1991 Just follow whatever guidelines or regulations are in place at your job. If wearing a watch while working is prohibited or discouraged, don't wear one. Use your own judgment if the matter isn't specifically addressed, or ask your supervisor/manager about it if you're still unsure.

You should make yourself aware of the safety regulations in your workplace so that you don't have to wonder about this sort thing.
