We haven't been getting our hours at work, and I thought about becoming a dasher or other delivery service for some extra money.
After working for UPS, I'm kind of scared of dogs running loose in the yard. For the record, I adore animals. I'm not naturally fearful of any domesticated animal. I even worked in my neighborhood which is a good neighborhood and ran into dogs "protecting their family/homes" quite often. When I was with the UPS driver(s), he would make the delivery by his own choice (he was used to the dog as he knows his route), or he'd call the owner (had their cell for this reason), or would leave it at the store and they'd have to pick up the delivery.
I want to know how people get over this fear, because I've never been scared of dogs until UPS. I want to mention this --- the drivers used to say they don't like the truck. Is there anyway the truck bothers them more, and maybe I'd be less concerned in a regular vehicle? Now that I'm asking this question, I remember all the various drivers saying "They don't like thr truck." There are so many delivery people...there's got to be a way to avoid this. I looked up the safety measures for Doordash drivers, and it was all about people. Lol. I'm worried about dogs who can get very ferocious not people.
I know you're not supposed to look them in the eyes and never run. Do you know how difficult it is not to look a dog in the eyes when he's growling at you in that way? It's very, very difficult.
Do you think its just the truck?
I should have asked the Dasher that just came by. Urrgh.
