So I developed an inventory management system at work that’s tailored specifically to our operation. I set it up so that people could have open access to it but only I can make changes.

It does a lot of useful automated stuff I made that we need but while I was out for three weeks with my injury a lot of new things were added. I offered to fix it but my boss said “nah you heal up and then we’ll worry about it.”

I was afraid they found someone else to do it or I wasn’t needed anymore. I’ve been struggling a lot with not feeling needed and useful at my work. I like making a difference, making things easier for people.

I finally logged in today to find he had been just typing it all in manually in the margins and doing all the math himself.

Turns out I am still needed. 🤣

It’s petty I guess? Maybe that’s the word? Or maybe just a small thing but it made me happy to know I could still help.

I’m going to fix it all tomorrow.

No this is good shit. It's important to contribute in a useful way, feel validated, and recognise your worth. Although work isn't everything, I find that kicking ass at your job is a good way to build confidence and realize you actually have a hell of a lot to offer.
