Goddamn so frustrating when people don't appreciate the work that goes into making art

UGhgsdhfajsdkfdfvnsdfvnkjhfgdvgnlslrtkefd lol

Just cause someone can do it doesn't mean they didn't spend hours problem-solving and figuring out how.

It's fine. Anyone can do it 🙄

I think people expect anyone who is creative to want to do things… like…. For free

Even cutting/coloring hair, I don’t do it as a profession anymore… but anyone who is in my immediate reality asks for me to do their hair, and doesn’t even offer payment or think anything of it

Also, after people saw my kitchen table, they were all”I would love for you to do a piece of furniture for me”…. Again, no offer of payment or realization that it takes time and effort (and I over analyze my shit and dislike it often)

@WaryWitchWandering Give them a bad haircut once and they will never ask you again.

@Adrift just quietly cut big sections under the layers…

@WaryWitchWandering And say Woops! every so often.
When i was a kid my friend liked horses so i drew horses from a calendar i had and her mom thought i traced them 😤

All labour is skilled labour!
caccoon · 36-40
@KiwiDan agreed
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
@caccoon And your art is highly skilled labour. Just because anyone hypothetically can do something doesn't mean they realistically are able to. It's like saying if you have legs then you can run an ultramarathon.

But you like art so therefore you’re enjoying it anyway so give me a bunch of stuff for an embarrassingly low rate please.
caccoon · 36-40
@KingofPizza2 and there's that too, but that's an easy and hard no.
deadgerbil · 26-30
I could only imagine how defeating it is to dedicate oneself to art only to not enjoy any success from it
caccoon · 36-40
@deadgerbil It's not totally defeating but it's really annoying some of the ideas people have, and that they think they can just do it, or waste my time asking me a million questions because they can't yet (but think they will after they ask me).

Mostly from the sales aspect you just have to figure out what people want. But yeah, I don't make a lot of money consistently.

They are comparing the Prices to crapola they can get cheap from China, I believe that’s a part of it.
fun4us2b · M
It is their loss and lack of imagination.

Be thankful that you're not them...and missing what they miss.
JustNik · 51-55, F
If they think that’s all it’s worth, they should give it a go themselves. 😆
People are ungrateful
caccoon · 36-40
@SlippingAway Just like, I wouldn't assume that I know how to fix your car or your sink
@caccoon exactly I could never claim to be able to do art I wouldn't even try. We need to respect each other's crafts.
caccoon · 36-40
@SlippingAway I think art can be really therapeutic and fun for people to do, but it's also a profession andyeahshdadsgdkjabfdkdfs

OnePatheticClown · 51-55, M
pfft...art...so easy it literally makes itself...
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
How about you do it for free and I give you "exposure" 😌
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I am sorry, people just have no idea that things that are not mass produced are worth so much more. The time and creativity out into a piece makes it so.
