Two of my coworkers in the office were telling me I have to fill out these online timesheets, and they're very annoying.

You have to take everything you did for the whole day, classify it using their janky little system, and record how much time you spent on each thing. And if it doesn't add up to 8 hours, god knows it's coming out of your PTO.

One of my coworkers scheduled an online meeting to teach me how to use it, and I mentioned the meeting offhand to my supervisor (who's online and works in another state). She says that our team doesn't use timesheets since we don't do billable hours (whatever that means), and she emailed HR asking about it. Well, HR emailed back almost immediately saying that I don't have to do timesheets, just get my shit done and keep track of my PTO. Oh yeah, and she CC'd the lady who set up the training meeting with me. Sooo that lady didn't cancel the meeting, but it looks like my supervisor totally just got me out of having to do timesheets, which is wonderful. She's so great and patient I adore her.

I overheard someone on video call in the other room sayin' something like, "He's a smart guy and he's well on his way to being an ASA, but he's really slow and he asks about everything" and I'm really paranoid bc it might've been one of my coworkers talking about me 😓 And yeah, the coworker who I think it is gave me a project that I've been slow on and have been really struggling. I'm scared. I do ask a shit ton of questions bc the work is really not clearly denoted, I just hope she goes easy on me. 💀

If she's a good manager, she will appreciate you asking questions.
Do try though, not to ask the same question twice.

@Carla It's so hard bc they try to teach me stuff by sharing their screens over Teams, doing stuff, and just talking it through. I can only absorb so much information at once, and there's no way I can take notes as fast as they can run through everything, especially with all the file pathing. I would do so so much better with written instructions, but that's a hell of a lot to ask.

i remember years ago when i had to do timesheets. Hated it but it had to be done, to determine how many of my hours are billable to the clients. We called them billables.

About asking questions, that is the right thing to do. Anyone would be slow in the beginning, they will understand.

It takes time to learn the culture of any organisation. Never feel inhibited from asking questions, it shows that you are engaged and interested 🙂

It takes a while to adjust.
