My first day of work was long but good! Do staff how self-development every year?

Today was my first day on the job and all we did was staff development talked about how to work with the kids and there was like a two hour session about like strategies or whatever with someone on a zoom chat. It was so boring. I was listening but it was so boring to sit in there. I’m gonna be working in a first grade class. There’s gonna be 13 students. Only 2 girls and 11 boys. It’s a school with students with disabilities. At least the job is close to where I live it’s only like five to ten minutes away from where I live.
Do staff go to this every year?
