40 hour work weeks need to be abolished.

It's 2022. 30 hour work weeks should be the norm with overtime starting aftwr 30 hours.

We average 55/65 hours per week in Construction.

If we were to do 40 hours per week , you will have the roads and buildings built in double the projected duration.

I will give another example :
Night shift productivity will reduce by approx 60% if you want a 40 hour week

@scorpiolovedeep Nah, just need to hire more people to cover the hours. Or pay more overtime.

Simple equation :

That would be more dollars - tax payers money

And you cannot add more people to certain areas due to access / permit issues / safety reasons

I bet you are outside the Construction industry to understand this.

@scorpiolovedeep It would adapt. They spewed the same arguement when 40 hour work weeks and overtime was instituted. There's enough labour out there.

Labour shortage here.
Skilled labour , even worse

In saying that 40 hours a week could mean less salary / wages , how would one cope up with rising costs ?

@scorpiolovedeep Paying to people for thirty hours is the same as paying one person sixty hours.
