Nametag were introduced so that customers would have no excuse for whistling or snapping their fingers to attract the attention of bar staff.

@fernie2 Paranoia genuinely
Is a mental issue I struggle with. Thanks for making fun of me.

@FutureIdol I certainly am not making fun of you...you DO have issues. You're upset because people call you by your name. That is something you should look into
You should NOT be working with the public. You seem annoyed by people being friendly. You got a big TUDE DUDE!
@FutureIdol YOU ARE WEARING IT! What do you think will happen? Maybe you need a job where you can keep your name a secret
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@fernie2 Most people ignore my nametag. I feel like we shouldn't have to wear the things and if someone wants to know my name so badly they can just ask me.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@FutureIdol I think your nametag is there for customers to either praise you complain about you to your boss. I think it's weird for people to use your name excessively anyway.

What do you want them to call you?
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@FreeSpirit1 My name doesn't creep me out. What creeps me out is when strangers use my name when I don't know theirs. It's like when someone uses your name like they own you or something

@FutureIdol she warned you about bees, that sounds pretty helpful to me.
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@FreeSpirit1 I knew the bee was there. It was buzzing around me all day. I've pretty much become desensitized to them.
When I worked retail I would have a mini freakout when someone would call me by my name. It was because I had this panic of "am I supposed to know who this person is?!"
I can't say I found it creepy or otherwise bothersome though.

Did you think the name tag was for when you couldn't remember your name?
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@Mamapolo2016 No it's part of dress code technically.
PrettyFlamingos · F
You wear a name tag so you can be approachable to customers
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
I think they are trying to flirt.

Well hi koudai 👋🤭
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Maybe they like your name. You shouldn't be creeped out
smiler2012 · 61-69
{@futureidol] it freaks you out i get that but for a customer that is a more one to one pertsonal thing if they know your christian name and know who they are talking too
REMsleep · 41-45, F
I am not saying this to shame you but this is my honest opinion. I kinda get what you mean because if I leave my name tag on accidentally and someone off the street calls my name then I might feel like you.
But your personality dosen't seem well suited to work with the public.
The vast majority of people who do so are taking time out to bother to read your name to address you with respect when they call you by name.
