@Deadcutie I mean level of cleaning, having dinner ready when the wage earning partner gets home, making the sure children are presentable, etc.

That stuff that people don't realize how much work went into it. Yes, these things are done today, but not at the same level because everyone in the household is working for wages.

@Deadcutie it wasn't as pristine as the television show but there were a lot of rules and social expectations. The television actually made it worse by reinforcing them. The rebellious age of the 60s actually came about from the stifling culture and social norms of the 50s.
