Does the hiring process slow down during the holidays?

So I applied for a job, got an interview. Tomorrow will be a week since the interview. I haven’t heard anything back yet. I emailed to touch base two days ago but still didn’t get a response. I’m nervous about this because I really want (and need) this job. Tomorrow also happens to be Christmas Eve and then Christmas Day after that. Do you think that’s why I haven’t heard anything? Maybe people are away for the holidays? I dunno.. After the interview was over they told me they’d get back to me. Hell, even if I didn’t het the job I’d at least like to know! Lol but yeah my question stands. I figured this is a weird time for the job interview and hiring process but my timing in life panned out this way and here I am looking for a job, while I too, am out of town for the holiday.
