It's Labor Day, and I'm about to leave to go labor. :/

My question is, should I be angry that the person "in charge" of where I work is usually the first one to leave? Or should I take it as not being babysat, and them assuming that everyone else is competent?

Having to go to work never seems fun, unless you enjoy your work, but our frame of mind in tough times, means everything. I'm happy you have a job. So many don't. Your boss leaving early is probably a position he worked hard to earn and may not have come easily. I doubt he would have left early, had he not appreciated the fact that you don't need a babysitter...you can be trusted and valued as someone trustworthy and credible. That says a lot about YOU. I applaud you for sticking with it and hanging in there. No need to compare yourself with others. As long as you're doing your personal best, that's all that matters...you're a winner, and that always pays off. It's what you do when no one's looking, that speaks volumes about your character. I think you're great to be sensitive in wanting to do a good job. Don't worry. Your boss notices, even though it may not seem so. Plus, you're being a great example to others when the boss is away. Some may be jealous of that, in fact, and try and give you a hard time. Just be nice and ignore that type behavior. Those type people have personal problems and feel a need to lash out. It's not about you at all. It's about them. I'm sure your boss appreciates your being faithful, even if he doesn't say nor show it.

That doesn't sound like a good leader to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

Sorry you had to work today, by the way.

It's better that they go. 😊
