There’s a group chat with me and the three shift leaders who work for me. They’re all the time asking me questions. They also pass along valuable information, so I don’t mind at all.
As a whole communication isn’t very good at my job, so it’s important for me to make sure the team members in my area feel like they are being heard and that they are getting the information they need to perform well.

@ProdigalSummer You sounds like a great boss. My last boss was terrible with communication and when giving instructions was extremely vague and not very detailed at all. You also were not allowed to contact her when she was off and when you did she wouldn’t answer. Once she put me and another shift leader in charge of preparing for inventory which is her and the assistant manager’s responsibility. Me and the other shift leader have never prepared for inventory before and both only worked inventory once which was a couple years ago at the time she didn’t even walk us through what was expected so there was a lot of miscommunication and uncertainty for a lot of what needed to be completed. I even sent her a text and picture message explaining our confusion about certain things and she ignored it. She was also suppose to come in before close to make sure everything was done correctly which she failed to do. When she got in the next morning she sent us a group text about how she was disappointed and was tired of picking up our slack basically 🙃 it was also expected to be done on a Saturday night. She was a terrible boss my boss before her was perfect, we weren’t allowed to contact her either but she was so detailed with instruction and walked you through everything to where there was no need to.

luv2fly352 · 70-79, M
Yes,and i always had to answer the phone because back then there was no Caller I.D.,pagers,or cell phones and ya didn't wanna miss a possible urgent or emergency phone call.

Rarely. They have no means to force me to work off hours, so it's strictly on my judgement on whether or not its serious enough to warrant putting in time.

Yes! I had a boss who did this to me all the time!
FattyMcFatts · 46-50, M
Yes, I ignore it.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
They did when I worked at the hospital. Been there longer then most and knew the policies and procedures quite well.
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
Yes, she will call and ask about something I did and give me crap for it...then tell me she is joking and laughs, then hangs up....
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@BrattyMel you should probably punch her in the face and get a new job
BrattyMel · 31-35, F

My previous boss use to text us on our day off about random annoying shit 🙄 but you could never get in contact with her about serious issues when she was off. “It was against policy to contact on off days” even though she did so regularly with us. I prefer not to contact others on their off days or be contacted on my off days. Another boss I had was big on that and we all followed it.
