So the company christmas party was booked at the Hard Rock Rocksino...

There was a ballot a few weeks ago. We could choose between a summer picnic, or a Christmas party. I voted for the Christmas party. One week later, we find out that the Christmas party won. Yesterday, I saw a post that said that the party was going to be at the Hard Rock Rocksino, which happens to be age restricted. Attendees must be 21 or over. Me, and several other employees, are under 21. How, exactly, does it make sense to host an event for all employees to celebrate at a place that prevents you from participating because of your age? I am at a major loss right now.

UPDATE: I have spoken to my boss about the situation. Even he is confused as to why it's being held at an age-restricted place. Our human resources lady is currently out for the week, but we will speak to her about the situation when she returns.
I will suggest a change in venue so all employees have the chance to participate, but, if whoever is in charge of planning the party doesn't want to change locations, I will also suggest establishing a special exception to admittance with a physical indicator of one's age for those who are not 21 and older, such as a wristband.
I do hope that they take at least one of these options into consideration.

good plan.

that is just weird... did company know about restriction? talk with your manager about this.

it's shit! maybe they should have separate party for young people, might be more fun!

Haha that'd be awesome

FINAL UPDATE: I will not be able to attend this party.

@Yulianna: A coworker told me that she (and a handful of employees, including my boss) are equally angered by this and may throw me a personal Christmas party. But this is what she's told me. I'm not sure if this is actually going to be a thing or not.

@FallenAngel519: i hope you have party, is not fair you are excluded like this ❤
Stardust519 · 26-30, F
@Yulianna: I just hope that whoever planned the original party takes this issue into consideration next time.

It could be the company will book it as a private function.
Thus giving your company exclusivity and side stepping Hard Rock's normal entry procedures.

It didn't really look like that. The post said that all attendees must be 21 or over. I'm going to talk to my boss about it and see what's going on.

ANOTHER UPDATE: A coworker spoke with Human Resources about the issue today. She will see if it will be okay for me to attend so long as I have a wristband. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Wow, that is really fucked up and it sounds like you have no recourse.
Stardust519 · 26-30, F
I'm going to speak to my boss about it on Monday when I see him.

Good luck. They need to let you in!

that sucks- sometimes- they have a private room that is rented by a company that will allow all the employees
