"It's not mandatory, but...

we strongly recommend that you attend this meeting/go to this company party/buy this useless extra equipment using money from your own pocket." (Management)

"Well I strongly recommend that you all f-ck off. Respectfully." (What I wish I could say to management when they feed me the above phrase)

Anyone else have to deal with this sh-t on a daily basis?

I have really strange hours because they require fixing of equipment they don't train for. Money is so good that is the only reason I put up with it.

hi badmaddie
No. But I empathise.
Thank them for their non mandatory invitation and say you will weigh it up against other competing strongly recommended demands on your time and income. Invite them to ease your decision by paying you more so you can afford the equipment and or make the meeting in paid time so you do not need to miss a vital social engagement. Basically ask for a pay rise.
Best wishes
:)

It seems to be the way of business. We aren't going to provide this stuff, so you need to go buy it on your own dime since you need. If you don't get it then your in deep shit with the company. Such BS.
