Work from home or stay where I am?

I have an issue. I work Monday through Friday 8-5 and have weekends and holidays off. I currently work at an addiction recovery center. I have been offered a similar job working from home making $10,000 more a year with potential of $30,000 more a year if I bonus. But my hours would be 2pm-10pm and I would have to work one day every weekend. I would also have to rotate working holidays. I have a 2 year old at home and am married. My husband doesnt want me to take it due to giving up weekends and holidays off. But I would be home, so I dont know if it would be that bad. Any advice from people with experience??

Working from home certainly has it perks. Those hours would be a challenge for family time for sure. If the duties allows you some freedom to do certain things...like have dinner with the family, tuck the little into bed, etc...then it might be a good move....especially since they will still be seeing you.

My advice is to make a Pros/ Cons chart....incl saving gas, drive time, etc... then prioritize gamily time things....see if there is a way to merge things as much as you can. There will most likly be things sacrificed....but their may be gains that outweigh them.

Forget it.

Loads of companies are 'offering' supposedly great jobs with supposedly big payoffs IF you stay the course for the next year.

And as you've seen already, companies can't even guarantee being around beyond Christmas so how can they guarantee anything beyond it ?

@MAPJRP idk it's up to you i guess.. can you try it see if you like it or not?
Think about it this way: working from home isn’t the luxury people think it is. Sometimes it’s far more stressful than being in an office because you never actually leave. The work lingers in your head, and if you're on call, it never really ends. Working a 2 PM to 10 PM shift means your peak living hours are gone. No dinner dates with family, no movie nights, and no winding down, your shift ends right at bedtime, which ruins your sleep.

You're sacrificing your entire life for what ? an extra $10k?. Forget the bonus, if it's not guaranteed, it's just a trap to make you work harder. Ask yourself: is that massive sacrifice worth an extra $97 a week after tax?

If landed this one, you can land another for better money and convenient working hours. Don’t sell yourself short to these corporate vultures.

Do what's best for you.
don't forget to include in your math that always working from home is quite isolating - people can stop thinking of you as a person when they never see you. and you'll foot all the cost/pain of home office that they would typically be spending - electricity internet connection- you may well need to upgrade/change/have a backup, 10k might not even cover all that. AND you'll be working non-typical hours, so you might need to dedicate a room at home to an office. the bonus is completely discretionary so you definitely shouldn't let that make much of an effect on your decision.
