I need to finish my higher education and vocational career skills
I have been out of work for a very long time and am currently on disability benefits . My parents purchased skillcrush.com break into tech blueprint course for me which taught you visual design and web development basics. They also bought the knowadays proofreading and editing courses for me, well the proofreading course back when knowadays was proofreading academy. You have to get 80% or higher on both the proofreading and editing courses to qualify for a work trial period with proofed inc. if you pass the work trial period , you are a permanent freelancer on the platform. I haven’t finished any of the courses because I got stuck and flustered on course content and final exams. If I do finish these courses at some point ( I have lifetime access) then I will have gained some employable skills. If I finished university I could have been a translator and been working in a high demand field. My parents paid for my college education with student loans and paid for my sewing classes. I can start with finishing one course at a time to get certificates of completion. Then I can work my way up to diplomas and university degrees again eventually. If I leverage career skills at least I can make some money and when I have made enough money to get off disability. Even if it’s just $2,000-$3,000 per month to start off. Well the working at proofed inc. after completing knowadays.com courses pay is pretty low and sometimes work is scarce but I would be lucky to maybe make $ 500-$1,000 a month to start. I could put something on my resume. There are some careers I could be well suited for like translation, transcription, proofreading &editing, writing and blogging, digital marketing, visual design and web development/multimedia design/illustration/animation, scoping ( editing legal transcripts) court reporting:broadcast captioning/CART providing is too fast with typing and being able to type 225 words per minute and maintain 98-99% accuracy would be really hard for me and I would be really stressed out. There are other careers that might be suitable too. But I should start with the courses that were already paid for and maybe do vocational rehabilitation services. They haven’t been able to help me in the past to find work that suited me. I have an associates degree which is useless. I feel they do not provide decent jobs for people. If you want to work in minimum wage crap jobs then it might be ok. And I could take getting an education with funding from the state problem is the colleges that have the programs online. That I am interested in are not in Massachusetts and it has to be a school in state. Southern New Hampshire university and university of Maine presque isle were where I was looking. Or even open university and athasbasca university. I hope I can find work for a company that takes beginners. I mean when I was looking for a job two and a half years ago with mass ability I wanted something I could do remotely with a flexible schedule that was not sales, customer service, retail or food service industry. I would have even taken. A boring job like data entry. I did not want to work holidays and weekends. I went through aptitudes tests such as RIASEC and other job readiness assessments from people incorporated. I probably was found not a good match for job readiness. I was also applying for social security benefits and disability. At the same time and my rehabilitation counseler left my job search on the back burner for a long while. When he finally got back to me I was so pissed off I didn’t even answer his voicemail and he called me three times months apart. I feel the Massachusetts rehabilitation commission did nothing for me. And a social services organization called south coast independent living helped me apply for disability benefits. I got my disability benefits after including my nueropsychological. Assessment in my application. I know I can’t start at the top of the totem pole for job pickings but come on a state agency should have the capacity to find you semi decent work not working. At tjmaxx or Burlington coat factory. It was a waste of my time . Now I will learn skills that that will help me get my foot in the door. Even if it is just a paid internship with a stipend that is a virtual internship. I need to finish my online courses if I can get unstuck on them. They are the key to escaping the situation I put myself in. Also my parents are paying back my student loans. If I start making money I could get rid of the rest of my student loans little by little. I should probably. Pay back my student loans first before going back to university. That could take a while. If I can find funding like scholarships and Pell grants to cover my other schooling expenses I could go back sooner. I really messed up my life.
