I Am Working From Home

I've been working from home now for about 3 weeks. I was looking forward to it as I would save travel time, start work earlier and get more time to myself. It was going to be a good situation.

Coming to the end of my 3rd week I find I'm so bored. I'm lacking serious motivation to do anything. There isn't a lot of work coming in, but it's too easy to be distracted by YouTube and Netflix.

This feels like I am on holiday leave but have to sit at a computer looking at emails the whole time. I've been wanting to work from home for a long time and now this has been my chance. But I feel like this is a bit of a battle.

In blabbering all this out, I acknowledge that I should shut my mouth. Others have lost their job and I saw a supplier this morning go into administration. Some others don't know if they will have a job next month.

So how about I just stop whinging and be happy with what I have....

The social aspect and routine at work where you have to professional and “on” certainly changes the atmosphere. There’s nothing to prove to anybody when you’re home. You just get certain projects in on time. It’s too lonesome to work from home I think.

@Keepitsimple true. People act differently at home and there is also management pressure to complete tasks. I find working from home also gives more excuses..ie check the fridge, get the mail, now the lawn.

@Laughman I use to do a lot of overtime at home and I could never focus. I always felt like I was neglecting the house and I could never dig my heels in and knock out work. I like the 2 separate. I like being something else besides mom and a wife and seen in professional world. JMO

@Keepitsimple well when I first started I was cleaning my kitchen as I was working because I hate doing it at night time. But the motivation is just dead now. Soon I'll be working in my bed still in my pajamas.

@Laughman that’s not bad, it’s relaxing but make sure to shower at least 😂

@Keepitsimple it's a shame the cinemas are closed otherwise I would take my laptop to 'work' there as well.

@Laughman too expensive, stay home and lounge on the couch so you can pause it for snack breaks and pee breaks...in your jammies!
