got in big trouble at work today 😔😪
I work insurance verifications now, and the goal per day is 30 calls and 35 verifications, or any combination thereof to reach a total of 65 (29 calls, 36 verifications, etc).
Welp, I will have worked for this company for 10 years on the 20th, so my salary and rank are a bit higher than the other workers in the verification dept.
It is not easy to work verifications btwn calls, for certain insurance carriers. We get batches of verifications, and sometimes you will get an amazing batch...other times, it will be complete randomness, tons of log ins and sites and carriers, MFA galore.
***YOU CAN ALSO GET A CALL WITH 20 POLICIES TO VERIFY, AND YOU ONLY GET CREDIT FOR THE CALL ITSELF, AS ONE ITEM OF THE 65.***
Because I make more money, *even though I deserve far more, and my company has frozen raises globally for 2 years now*, my boss thinks that I can somehow DEFY THE LAWS OF PHYSICS, and be everywhere at once.
I am tasked with doing reporting every morning, and lately HIS boss has been pulling me for HIPAA projects that are not even my job, and that sometimes take half the day.
Now I don't mind lending my expertise to rando projects, no sweat. But when he holds me to the same exact TIME and WORKLOAD expectations as the average agent, that feels like abject bullshit.
As I am not God, *you heard it here first, folks*, I cannot be omnipresent!! So, instead of complaining, I got up in the middle of the night and knocked my verifications half or wholly out of the way for the day, and didn't charge the time.
I get it. it is against the rules..but I am damned if I do and dead if I don't! I have expressed to him that the workload can be too much, and instead of asking how he can alleviate that..he just expects the amount I get paid to cut through the laws of physics??
He was like, "do not..do not EVER..never EVER..do this again."
We live in a dystopian late stage capitalism hellscape, i stg, where expectations are based solely on money..and where hardER work is actually PUNISHED.
He caught on to my log in times....I could have been shitcanned for..doing. more. work.
