got in big trouble at work today 😔😪

I work insurance verifications now, and the goal per day is 30 calls and 35 verifications, or any combination thereof to reach a total of 65 (29 calls, 36 verifications, etc).

Welp, I will have worked for this company for 10 years on the 20th, so my salary and rank are a bit higher than the other workers in the verification dept.

It is not easy to work verifications btwn calls, for certain insurance carriers. We get batches of verifications, and sometimes you will get an amazing batch...other times, it will be complete randomness, tons of log ins and sites and carriers, MFA galore.

***YOU CAN ALSO GET A CALL WITH 20 POLICIES TO VERIFY, AND YOU ONLY GET CREDIT FOR THE CALL ITSELF, AS ONE ITEM OF THE 65.***

Because I make more money, *even though I deserve far more, and my company has frozen raises globally for 2 years now*, my boss thinks that I can somehow DEFY THE LAWS OF PHYSICS, and be everywhere at once.

I am tasked with doing reporting every morning, and lately HIS boss has been pulling me for HIPAA projects that are not even my job, and that sometimes take half the day.

Now I don't mind lending my expertise to rando projects, no sweat. But when he holds me to the same exact TIME and WORKLOAD expectations as the average agent, that feels like abject bullshit.

As I am not God, *you heard it here first, folks*, I cannot be omnipresent!! So, instead of complaining, I got up in the middle of the night and knocked my verifications half or wholly out of the way for the day, and didn't charge the time.

I get it. it is against the rules..but I am damned if I do and dead if I don't! I have expressed to him that the workload can be too much, and instead of asking how he can alleviate that..he just expects the amount I get paid to cut through the laws of physics??

He was like, "do not..do not EVER..never EVER..do this again."

We live in a dystopian late stage capitalism hellscape, i stg, where expectations are based solely on money..and where hardER work is actually PUNISHED.

He caught on to my log in times....I could have been shitcanned for..doing. more. work.

Somehow your company does not have the appropriate algorithms in place based on times/policies you have to check, as you noted.
I am not a mathematician or programming guru. But insurance companies make a ton of profit and should do better for their employees.
Good luck.

@NudasPriest also, please see the asterisked portion i added, for clarity, above. he is the king of miscommunication, and has been since i knew him in a previous department.

everyone will be announcing, in the group chat, that our systems are down..and instead of putting in an IT request..he will announce that such and such amount of calls are holding.

he told me that he wouldnt throw me into reporting on my own. he said this 3x. he then threw me in.

he told me he didnt want to know about any duplicate variation under 20. when i told him one day there were no potential dupes, he sent me a screenshot of 2 lines that added up to 8.

i am so so tired of managing up.
@foldedunfolding Hopefully HIS boss will see your value. Sounds like you should be doing your bosses job.

@NudasPriest aw thank you..for context, i was asked, nay begged, to be a supervisor..but i turned it down. i didnt want a salaried job, and i deserved 10k more like the men were getting..esp since supervisors came to ME with their questions. and i was the only team lead for an entire call center for a year..but they didn't give me the 10k raise that comes with being a senior team lead.
