Semicolons in general

Are they too archaic? Should I just break the sentences up? Do they ruin the look of poems? I’m using them anyway. I figure, if the writer doesn’t like them, I could just go back over the entire book and fix them. I don’t know; I like them. (I don’t know. I like them.) 😅

I use a few.. every now and then.. they’re just supposed to be for a stronger pause than a comma but not a complete stop.. soooo.. idk they just fit sometimes.. I don’t usually know where to put them until the editing process anyway..

I'm a big fan of semicolons; I use them to sorta join two connected sentences. Or, if I've got a list of a,b, and c; and also a list of g, h, and j; then I can separate the two lists conveniently with a semicolon.
