I can fix a few things and do oil changes but the shift to microelectronics in cars have made them too complex for me. I rebuilt a 1967 VW engine once with good result but that was simple compared to today’s computer controlled engines.

@redredred yeah, that's what I've heard, modern day vehicle computer system are do complicated you might as well just take them to a shop.
I wanted to learn some car repair skills but I feel it may only be useful if I get an older car

@redredred rebuilding an engine is still pretty impressive though

@Andromedanian It was all nuts and bolts, straight forward mechanical stuff. No electronics except for the generator power to the ignition.

Hell no! I once changed a headlight on my car from a youtube video but that is about it.

@Andromedanian What is the most complicated thing you have fixed?
Andromedanian · 22-25, M
@BloodRaven I learned how to drive a motorcycle to a pretty respectable level, I also learned how to fix a burst pipe

I'm knowledgable enough to call the Auto Club and they can either fix it or tow it to the dealer.
