It's my first time to feel marginalized at work

I'm always that timid introverted girl, but I never felt or experienced this before. I think it started when one of my colleagues didn't like my output. Take note, I'm the only new employee in our team and they've been all friends for 2 to 5 years.

They also gave me a task that everyone hates and expects me to know it all already. They call me out every day. And yes, "THEY", because everyone feels like my boss—and their instructions contradict each other. And when I try to explain, they don't even listen.

I really don't know how I will get along or even just do better at work. Because, my smallest mistake, they make it big. I tried to fix all their criticism. I never had this problem from my previous job and this is totally new to me.

Has it been made clear who is your actual supervisor? Ask them to help you avoid the land mines.

I experienced this on a smaller scale when I worked from the corporate offices of a chain of grocery stores. Another woman had been removed from the job and it was offered to me. HR privately explained the change being due to the fact that within 5 minutes of her entering one of our stores. “Everybody wants to stake her out over an anthill.” They assured me she had knowledge of and access to training materials and I should ask her for them. I did. Her response to my asking if she had the materials and could I get them from her, was succinct. She had a cotton candy kind of voice that sounded poisonous, and she said, “I do have the materials and if you try to get your hands on them I’ll break every one of your “effing” fingers.” So I just made my own training stuff.

It could just be a pocket of mean girls grown older. It could be they know how the office really works and the supervisor doesn’t, so they drew their own map. Or somebody’s daughter had their eye on the job.

A) Is there an office procedures manual? Probably not, but give it a try.

B) Identify the ringleader of the gang. Tell her you’re confused by conflicting explanations and you are not intentionally causing chaos. Give her respect and there’s a chance she may rescue you.

C) Look for another job.

Good luck, honey.
Sounds like a pack of Karens. Maybe start looking at other positions.
