Trying to figure out why...

A coworker sent me on an errand during work. I had to get out the company van key, unlock the van, find and retrieve an empty plastic water bottle with no label, lock the van, and put the empty bottle inside a specific grey plastic bag hanging in the staff closet. 3 phone calls and a text were involved. I found a full bottle of Naya brand water where the empty one was supposed to be, a half full bottle on the floor at the front, and several empty bottles behind the front seats. All were the same brand. I had a feeling it was a test, and I supposedly failed. I was polite but I'm wondering _why_ he called twice from home about a cheap empty unlabelled water bottle.

The next day he showed me a snapshot of an empty water bottle in the same spot where I had taken out the half empty one. I told him somebody must have put it there, and he said no but admitted that he should probably do his own water bottle errands himself. That is true.
I would have emptied one entirely, or delivered all 3.
Probably pour out the half empty and deliver that.
Did it specify a bottle that was already empty?

@UnderLockDown Yes. And he has seniority that allows him to pull stunts.
a game. or a bet. could be killing time. yes it is some kind of test. watch out in the future a bigger test maybe at hand,

@jackrabbit10 Yes he tried number tests too. And handing me $200 to 'put through' on the cash register. I asked what transaction it was for, and he said, 'You don't know what I'm talking about, do you?' Thankfully another cashier said she knew what transaction the $200 was for.
What a weird thing.

You should have told him, to go and have a running jump for himself
Check to see if there is an empty bottle inside the grey plastic bag
