I'm sorry but being positive does NOT pay the bills. Furthurmore why should I think happy thoughts when I'm going to get shouted at all day long?

We had numerous call offs at my work and as a result it was hell for me. We had a visiting manager helping us out and she kept telling me to think positive and I refused. No, there is nothing positive about the situation and I'm not going to pretend its okay. I'm not going to smile while getting fussed at by customers due to the long wait times for drinks. I am not going to smile while working far harder than anyone should have to for these clowns. No thank you. Feel free to think positive all you want but I'm rooted in reality.

100% agree. Toxic positivity makes me feel ill.

It make you happier tho (to think positively instead of pessimistically)

Toxic positivity is not positivity.

@RedBaron I am good at my job however I do have trouble plastering a fake smile on my face and taking constant beatings from the general public.

@Crimsondrops If you don't know anything about something it seems complicated, but once you take that time to learn it the payoff saves you years of mental agony. Trades people think they have it hard but customer service is hell. It is literally the worst kind of work.

@Crimsondrops Doesn't matter, I always had that mentality. I fucked up school in my mind it was too late, 21 it is too late, 25 it's too late.. the truth is it is never too late. It's a psychological barrier, and depending on level of commitment you can learn a decent amount in a matter of months.

Obviously common sense doesn't go a miss, you're not likely to become an astronaut, but a handyman? Why not?

Then you’ll drown in your own misery and you won’t ever get very far with that attitude.

@gregloa Ha about that meme you posted I already do self medicate. I just don't see why anyone should pretend everything is fine and rainbows when it's clearly not. I've never been able to smile through the fire so to speak.
