I still see people put "I want to help people" on their resumes

"Oh, I'm sorry, in this specific job you actually don't help other people, including the person you are working for. You are going to be paid to do nothing to help the sector of which you are being employed in".

Every interaction you have within a community involves reciprocated serving. It is bizarre seeing grown adults put that in their resume, thinking it means anything.

I'd rather work with people with that mentality than the ones who lack it.
Kuronekko · 41-45, F
@Therealsteve You should see that as a plus lol

@Kuronekko Nah, because claiming to want to help someone and actually actualizing that are completely different.

Find someone posting about how much their care about so and so group and say something to them like "be the change you want to see in the world, if you can build yourself up you'll have enough excess to then help others in the way you think they should be helped" and I can tell you they will have no interest. They just want the satisfaction of feeling like they are good people. Same crowd as "I want to help people". If you really wanted to help people, you'd know specifically how you want to help and would have built up the skills.

@Therealsteve I guess you don't need to be skilled in particular to help people generally. Most people seem to manage ok. The little things mean a lot to people.

It has been fashionable to seem selfless and concern for some time now. What people really want is a living wage.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@Muthafukajones Too bad. A company's role is to keep a sector sustained, not to pay for people's existence.

You don't work in healthcare do you?
Miram · 31-35, F
@Thevy29 He seems like a pain to work with too. I read his conversation with Gangsteress about the LGBTQ+ , and he significantly lacks in communication skills. It seems like he is an internet dweller to me. And so irritatingly argumentative I don't even want to bother addressing him as an actual person.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@Thevy29 I don't even remember my original post specifying this being a care work role. Could you show me where in the OP I specified care work?
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@Miram Not seeing people who disagree with you as "actual people" will be quite the obstacle in a proper interaction with them.

Why do you allow what other people do bother you?
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@RedBaron Same with you, why do you need to comment?
RedBaron · M
@Therealsteve Because you posted and I have a question about it.

That’s how the site works, you know.

If you don’t want comments, then don’t post.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@RedBaron As you said, why do you care?
