Sitting on interview committees......

From time to time, I am called to sit in on interview committees for new hires and promotions...... i am amazed at the amount of people who appear unprepared for the interview. Do you normally interview prospective new hires, and if so, what are some of the more common mistakes you have seen during these interviews ??

As Division Director, I interviewed prospects, but I was fortunate to have an outstanding HR person who screened all applicants. She gave me the top three or four, so by the time they got to me, they were prepared and at least met the basic qualifications.
