I'm going to have to chew out one of those operators at central phones in my workplace

I just got a call from my desk phone from someone very distressed after apparently receiving a letter from human resources about being laid off or something? I couldn't really understand them because they seemed really upset, like they were trying to hold back from crying. But I'm not in HR, I'm the lead mail clerk in procurement. I may have sent that letter out to them, but I can't answer their question. I told them this and that they should call central phones so they could be forwarded to HR, but they told me that they already did so and the operator they spoke to forwarded them to me. I went and forwarded them to someone in HR, but those damn operators are going to be getting a call from me real soon. Why the hell would they send someone calling about being let go to me?! Even if they're new here, they have their directory on their end that should clearly show I'm in procurement and not human resources. Whoever it was, I'm going to tell them that better not happen again.
