Why is she treating that kid like that?

I am doing an internship in a kindergarten, we are 4 interns including me. One of the girls acts much more interested, hugging and kissing one of the children in her class. She always sits next to him and looks at him while he eats in the hallway. I wanted to help that child while doing an activity, but she shouted at me. I heard her crying because that child didn't come to school yesterday. I noticed the other day that she took one of his pens. Why might she be doing this?

I know of some that get emotionally attached to some kids. Not necessarily in a bad way, even if it seems inappropriate.

There is that possibility.

My sister-in-law once took in such a kid that was very much autistic. There really wasn't anything wrong going on. Being autistic sometimes requires a touch approach. That's the only way they respond to anything.

Perhaps this is such a case.

I do remember in junior high one teacher sort of taking an interest in me, however there really wasn't the same type of attachments, as with my sister-in-law. Yes, he bought me some things, yet only through my parents. In fact my parents were the ones that actually bought the stuff.

Don't jump to conclusions is all I am saying. It could be something benign.

Yet do keep a eye on the situation. There is that possiblity of something not right. Therefore something needs to be done in that case.

Perhaps have the school contact the parents, to see if they have any type of knowledge of that situation. Don't do it yourself, however. That could directly involve you.

Please notice that I gave two different situations. They are not the only situations.

Better to be certain, than in doubt and cause false accusations. Once such accusations are made, you can't just say "oh, I am sorry. I was wrong". The parents might even blame you. Perhaps for being jealous of the other teachers relationship with both kid and parents.

That, as well, is just one possibility.
